"I just wanted to share some additional feedback about iTriage. My dad was recently in the hospital, and unfortunately passed away from multiple complications. However, iTriage isn't just great for identifying symptoms but for understanding diseases as well. My dad had so many complications that iTriage helped me because I could look them up, read about them, and ask his doctor questions. I was able to better understand the links between my dad's conditions. Understanding more about his condition helped me to ask the doctor questions that lead to better treatment.
My dad lives in a rural area, and was suffering from COPD but was not receiving breathing treatments in the hospital, even though he was having breathing problems and his oxygen levels were low. My dad wasn't an Aetna member, and I don't know that he was contacted by a case manager from Blue Cross who was his carrier. It was such a helpful tool because I could access it from the hospital and use it to understand things even as my dad's doctor was standing there sharing information with us. I also could use it to help him and my stepmother understand in layman's terms what the doctor meant.
My father ended up passing away from his many complications, but I do believe that iTriage helped prepare me for what to expect, and also helped our family to communicate with his doctor, and make sure he was getting the proper level of care. I just wanted to share this important story because now that it's been several weeks since he passed away I can really look back and appreciate that because of this technology I felt like I had an ally in helping my dad." - Heather M.
